"Art has its role in every revolution": Lzzy Hale, Halestorm

During this time of protests in the United States, not a few artists have raised their voices and joined the demand for justice after the movement. #BlackLivesMatters. People like Axl Rose, Serj Tankian and Adam Lambert have spoken about it and now it's the singer's turn Halestorm, Lzzy Hale, who through his account in Tumblr made his position clear.

“The spirit of rock n roll.

I want to start by saying that I don't have a degree in political science; I'm also not an expert in social injustice. However; You don't have to be an expert or have a master's degree to know the difference between right and wrong or to differentiate between good and evil. That is something instilled in you when you learn empathy and compassion.

The notion that all humans deserve to be treated equally should not be an optional belief, nor a political opinion. It should be something that we all practice as a fundamental trait of our species. It should be a no-brainer. Justice for all, not just for some. We are all born with that trait. But some of us are taught to fear, hate or discriminate against another human being based on the color of their skin.

Go inside your soul. If you feel uncomfortable or don't really believe that all humans should be treated equally ... then you are part of the problem. But it's okay to be wrong. However; Just being wrong doesn't mean "that's the way it is" and you should leave it at that.

It is never too late to educate yourself and abolish that dinosaur mindset. Together we can be the asteroid that ends racism once and for all. I really believe that hope and optimism are on the way.

Unfortunately, right now our country is plagued by unbridled narcissism, police brutality, and a broken system. But sometimes it takes a horrible tragedy (or many horrible tragedies in the case of 2020) to unite us, this is not the time for silence!

We must keep the momentum going, because if we don't, history is doomed to repeat itself and we can't let that happen. I know that many of you say that it is better to close your mouth and start singing, and well this is me singing. I am an artist and art has always played a role in a revolution. And besides, I am a rock n´roll singer, and we all know that since the beginning of rock, the genre has always been a safe haven for the marginalized. In fact, the whole idea behind the Rock N Roll spirit is to rebel and face injustice!

Who gave life to rock? Black musicians! Then rest assured that I will not shut up. If what I say makes you uncomfortable, then you must dive deep into your soul, discover why, unlearn it, and join us in the fight for change. We will welcome you with open arms.

To my black brothers and sisters, I will never really understand your pain because I was born white. But I am outraged and heartbroken that they still have to bear this weight that should have been lifted long ago. I stand in solidarity with you and will use my voice to continue carrying the spirit of rock n´roll. ”
