Amon Amarth take Sleipnir into the Wild West on “Eight Legs of Thunder”

Amon Amarth convierte la última cabalgata de Odín y Sleipnir en “Eight Legs of Thunder”, un nuevo sencillo acompañado por un western contemporáneo.

Amon Amarth released “Eight Legs of Thunder” on August 27, 2026, providing the final preview of The Allfather Awakens, their 13th studio album, due October 2 through Metal Blade Records. Inspired by Sleipnir, Oden’s legendary eight-legged horse, the song arrives with a video that transports Norse mythology into a contemporary American Western.

The music for “Eight Legs of Thunder” was written by guitarist Johan Söderberg. Its galloping rhythm led the band toward Sleipnir before Johan Hegg developed the lyrics and retained the composition’s working title.

Across its four-minute-and-twenty-second running time, the song follows Oden and his steed toward Vígríðr, the field where the battle of Ragnarök will take place. The lyrics describe the arrival of darkness, the charge of the Einherjar, Yggdrasil burning and the fate awaiting the Allfather against Fenrir. Vígríðr, el campo donde tendrá lugar la batalla del Ragnarök. La letra describe la caída de la oscuridad, el avance de los einherjar, el incendio de Yggdrasil y el destino que espera al Padre de Todo frente a Fenrir.

Directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz, the video deliberately abandons the medieval landscapes commonly associated with Amon Amarth. In their place are cowboys, pickup trucks, open roads and the dusty tension of a contemporary American Western.

The Allfather Awakens was recorded during two sessions held several months apart at producer Jacob Hansen’s studio in Denmark. The first began in spring 2025, with the final recording completed in March 2026.

Instead of waiting until a tour had ended to write new material, the musicians began developing songs while still on the road. They subsequently completed each track — drums, guitars and vocals — before beginning work on the next.
