Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7, marks the publication of Last Rites, the second and final autobiography from Ozzy Osbourne, via Grand Central Publishing. Completed just days before his death in July 2025, the memoir offers an unfiltered, emotional account of the last seven years of his extraordinary life.
Equal parts shocking, darkly humorous, and heartwarming, Last Rites captures Ozzy’s trademark candor and chaotic charm. It chronicles his reflections on marriage, faith, fame, and frailty — from his triumphant return to the stage during the “Back to the Beginning” concert in Birmingham to his struggles with near-total paralysis and chronic illness in his later years.
In an exclusive conversation, Jack Osbourne shared insight into his father’s process: “He’d been working on Last Rites for years. He felt he needed to follow up I Am Ozzy because so much had happened since — the Sabbath reunion, the TV show, his final albums, his health battles. He finished it only a few days before he passed.”
Jack reflected on his father’s transformation in those final years: “The wild man of rock slowed down. That forced reflection was both painful and healing. He finally had time to think about what mattered most — family, music, and his fans.”
The memoir also revisits Ozzy’s enduring bond with his fans and his refusal to let illness define him. “That last show in Birmingham was his farewell — his gift back to the people who gave him everything,” said Jack.
With more than 100 million albums sold, two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions, and over five decades of influence, Ozzy’s impact remains unmatched. Last Rites stands as his final statement — a brutally honest, often funny, and ultimately life-affirming testament from the man who defined heavy metal.
