The 69 Eyes released “Brandon Lee (Forma Acustica)” on September 25, 2026, via BLKIIBLK, the heavy music imprint of Frontiers Label Group. The reimagined track offers the first preview of an acoustic album scheduled to arrive in early 2027.
Originally released in 2000 on Blessed Be, “Brandon Lee” became one of the Finnish band’s most internationally recognizable songs. Its title pays tribute to American actor Brandon Lee, who starred in The Crow, the 1994 film that became a defining reference point within gothic culture.
The new recording retains the melancholy of the original composition while replacing much of its electric weight with a more restrained arrangement. Jyrki 69’s deep voice remains at the center as the acoustic guitars bring the song’s romantic and shadowy character into sharper focus.
The single was mixed by American producer Matt Hyde, who previously worked with The 69 Eyes on Back in Blood, recorded in Los Angeles and released in 2009. His credits also include production and mixing work for Slayer, Deftones and Megadeth.
“Brandon Lee (Forma Acustica)” is accompanied by a music video directed by Elias Ryynänen and filmed at Suomenlinna, the historic sea fortress located off the coast of Helsinki.
The production combines footage of the band performing with appearances by models Corinna Puleo and Lotte Vainio. Their styling and runway presence evoke the fashion of the late 1990s and early 2000s, when The 69 Eyes established the visual identity associated with albums such as Wasting the Dawn, Blessed Be and Paris Kills.
Suomenlinna’s historic surroundings and the video’s photography support the musical transition without abandoning the band’s familiar world. The acoustic version may reduce the distortion, but it preserves the cinematic, romantic and nocturnal qualities that made “Brandon Lee” a central part of their catalog.
The 69 Eyes Prepare an Acoustic Album for 2027
The upcoming record will feature newly arranged versions of several familiar The 69 Eyes songs. The band has not yet revealed its title, exact release date or tracklist, but confirmed that it will arrive in early 2027. 2027.
“As a preview of what’s to come, we created new arrangements of many familiar 69 Eyes songs and developed them into full acoustic versions,” explained Jyrki 69. “This is an invitation to come and hear us in a new, acoustic setting.”
The vocalist said the project emerged after an especially intense period on the road. According to his figures, the band played 89 shows across 22 countries in a single year, following three or four years of nearly continuous touring.
Formed in Helsinki in 1989, the group retains its classic lineup of Jyrki 69, Bazie, Timo-Timo, Archzie and Jussi 69. Across 13 studio albums, the musicians known as the Helsinki Vampires have connected glam, gothic rock and rock ’n’ roll through an identity that has remained recognizable for almost four decades.
