As I Lay Dying finish recording ninth album and invite fans into the tracklist decisions

As I Lay Dying recorded 12 songs for their ninth album and will let fans weigh in on two potential album tracks.

As I Lay Dying have completed recording their ninth studio album, tentatively expected in early 2027 through Napalm Records. The band recorded 12 songs with the intention of keeping ten for the final record, and they are now bringing fans into part of that selection process.

On September 15, As I Lay Dying will release two of those tracks, “Polarized” and “Retribution,” before opening a fan vote on whether both should make the finished album. Tim Lambesis said the pair were deliberately chosen because they represent opposite ends of the record’s musical spectrum.

“Polarized” is described as more melodic and mid-tempo, with additional clean singing while remaining heavy and driving. “Retribution” heads in the opposite direction: fast, dark and heavy, with no clean vocals at all. According to Lambesis, most of the remaining material falls somewhere between those two approaches.

The record will follow Through Storms Ahead, released in November 2024 and officially billed by Napalm Records as As I Lay Dying’s eighth full-length. The band also released the newer singles “Echoes” and “If I Fall” in 2025.

No album title, exact release date or final tracklist has been announced yet. “Polarized” and “Retribution” will offer the first substantial look at the range of the completed material when both arrive September 15.
