Turmion Kätilöt released “Lunastakaa”, providing the second preview of Resodance, their 12th studio album, due worldwide on October 23 through Nuclear Blast Records. Composed by keyboardist Run-Q and written by vocalist Shag-U, the song confronts abuse of power and exploitation through one of the band’s defining contrasts: euphoric music carrying a deeply unpleasant story.
Shag-U often begins writing by examining his own experiences. This time, he explained, “the mirror became a window.” The starting point was news coverage involving abuse of power and exploitation, followed by a difficult question: how completely can a person be broken, and is genuine justice or reparation ever possible?
Shag-U also acknowledged a second, more self-ironic interpretation. The lyrics can refer to artists accepting their conversion into products in exchange for money, visibility or approval.
That reading expands the subject without separating it from the abuse of power. Within the music industry, exposure is often presented as a reward, even when it requires musicians to surrender their image, identity and labour under conditions established by platforms, companies, promoters or audiences.
The single arrives with a video directed by Toni Hiltunen. The production brings back the visual chaos, dark humour and theatrical intensity that Turmion Kätilöt have turned into an inseparable extension of their concerts.
Resodance was produced by Mikko Tegelman alongside the band. Its 12 compositions will explore universal cycles, resonance and personal transformation, with production intended to preserve the raw energy of Turmion Kätilöt’s live performances. It follows Reset, released in October 2024.
Formed in Finland in 2003, the current lineup consists of MC Raaka Pee and Shag-U on vocals, Bobby Undertaker on guitar, Master Bates on bass, Run-Q on keyboards and DQ on drums.
Since releasing Hoitovirhe in 2004, Turmion Kätilöt have developed a catalogue in which industrial metal coexists with disco rhythms, melodic choruses and an openly provocative stage production. Resodance will extend that trajectory through 12 songs and will be available on CD, red-and-black marbled vinyl, and transparent red-and-black marbled vinyl.
One day after the album’s release, on October 24, Turmion Kätilöt will headline Colossal Disco at Helsinki Ice Hall. The concert has been presented as the largest headline production of their career and will turn the arrival of Resodance into an arena performance prepared for several thousand people.
