Alcest will release Live at Hellfest 2022 on December 4, 2026, marking the first live album of their career. The eight-track recording captures their performance at the French festival and will be released through Nuclear Blast Records on streaming platforms and as a limited-edition double vinyl.
The first preview is already out. “Protection (Live at Hellfest 2022)” arrives alongside footage from the performance itself, taking a song originally released on Spiritual Instinct and placing it inside the much more physical setting of an Alcest festival set, where weight and melody have to occupy the same space at full volume.
The tracklist does not concentrate on a single period of the band. Instead, its eight songs move through different parts of Alcest’s catalogue and show how material written years apart settles naturally into the same live language. Écailles de lune is represented by “Écailles de lune, Pt. 2,” while Les Voyages de l’Âme contributes “Autre temps.” Kodama supplies both “Oiseaux de proie” and its title track, while “Protection” and “Sapphire” come from Spiritual Instinct.
The artwork was created by French artist Yoann Lossel, whose illustration work provides something more evocative than a conventional festival photograph and fits naturally with the dreamlike visual world Alcest have developed alongside their music.
