Eloy Casagrande has confirmed that Slipknot are recording their eighth studio album, the first with him on drums. Speaking to Camilo Guzmán of Colombian radio station Radiónica, the Brazilian musician said the band have written "many, many songs" and described the sessions as a "very chill, very good process." "Right now, we are recording the new album. We are making real music. We are not thinking about business," he said.
Casagrande said he can't share details about the material, but stressed that the group are working without worrying about whether people will like the result, and that they are being honest with fans. Inside the band, he said, they have asked him for one thing: "They want me to be myself." He recalled that Shawn "Clown" Crahan told him early on that Slipknot's soul and energy matter more than playing every part perfectly, and later asked him to bring Brazilian rhythms into his playing.
The 35-year-old drummer spent 12 years in Sepultura before joining Slipknot in early 2024, replacing Jay Weinberg. In the interview he described himself as a fan of the band long before joining, cited the late Joey Jordison as an influence, and said he aims to honor that legacy in his own style, one in which his Brazilian musical background remains present even in extreme metal. He also rejected the label of being one of the best metal drummers in the world.
On September 9, Slipknot surprise-released 'Arsenal,' their first new song in more than three years and the first release on (sic)est Records, the band's own label, after their long-running Roadrunner deal ended. The video was directed by Crahan. Corey Taylor told BBC Radio 1 the song "pummels," describing it as relentless with a heavy final section, but Jim Root later explained it was a quick release "while we work on the rest of the record," that it is "not really representative of the other tunes," and that it won't appear on the album. Fan reaction was mixed. Their previous standalone single was 'Bone Church,' from 2023.
Keyboardist Craig Jones left in June 2023, and in August of this year the band confirmed on Instagram that they would "no longer be associated with" Sid Wilson, their DJ since before the band's debut album, without giving a reason. In fall 2025, Slipknot sold their catalog to HarbourView Equity Partners, in a deal that does not cover future releases. Their most recent album, 'The End, So Far,' came out in August 2022, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 in Mexico, the UK, Australia, Germany and Switzerland.
In late September the band announced the '(Sic)est Stadium Tour' for summer 2027. It opens July 3 at London's Wembley Stadium with Marilyn Manson, Lorna Shore and Hatebreed, then continues with 13 North American dates, from July 16 at Washington's Nationals Park to August 18 at Phoenix's Chase Field, all with Bring Me The Horizon as main support. In September it reaches South America: São Paulo on the 4th, Buenos Aires on the 8th, Santiago on the 12th, Lima on the 14th and Bogotá on the 16th at Vive Claro, with Marilyn Manson and Hatebreed on the Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia dates. The tour does not currently include any shows in Mexico.
