Eshtadur explores the weight of knowledge on “August’s Burdens”

Eshtadur continue their next album’s spiritual narrative with “August’s Burdens,” a symphonic exploration of knowledge, sacrifice and personal transformation.

Colombian melodic black/death metal band Eshtadur has released “August’s Burdens,” the second single from its fifth studio album, In Darkness All Shadows Gone. Rockshots Records will issue the record on October 2, 2026.

The song continues the narrative introduced by “Into The Woods,” the album’s first single. While that track established the beginning of a spiritual journey led by a symbolic figure known as The Crow, “August’s Burdens” examines the consequences of following that path.

The new composition addresses knowledge, memory, suffering and the responsibilities acquired during personal transformation. It appears as the fourth track on a 12-song concept album built around darkness, sacrifice, acceptance and spiritual rebirth.

Knowledge becomes a spiritual burden

Eshtadur’s explanation of the title connects it with Augustus, represented within the album’s story as a sacred spiritual emperor whose wisdom extends beyond ordinary reality. The band also incorporates elements associated with traditions surrounding the Three August Ones into its own symbolic narrative.

Within the song, greater understanding does not produce immediate freedom. Each revelation creates a new responsibility, turning spiritual development into an experience shaped by suffering, sacrifice and endurance.

According to vocalist and guitarist Jorg August, the song captures the point at which knowledge becomes a responsibility. Every step gives The Crow a deeper understanding while adding another burden, making sacrifice inseparable from spiritual growth.

The narrative extends the ideas established in “Into The Woods.” The Crow serves as both a guide and central figure in an internal journey where darkness is not presented solely as a threat. It becomes a necessary space in which previous identities dissolve and new perspectives can emerge.

One day before the album’s release, Eshtadur will support Finnish metal veterans Amorphis in Mexico City. The concert will take place on October 1, 2026, at Circo Volador as part of Amorphis’ Borderland Tour 2026.

Tickets for the concert are available through Arema and the physical outlets announced by the organizers.
