Dimmu Borgir releases new single, ‘Ascent’; announces world tour in 2026

Dimmu Borgir announce Grand Serpent Rising and release “Ascent”, alongside North American and European tours in 2026.

Norwegian band Dimmu Borgir have officially announced their new studio album Grand Serpent Rising, set for release on May 22, 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records, marking their return with new material.

The band recorded the album in Gothenburg alongside producer Fredrik Nordström, known for his work on key releases such as Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon. The new record maintains the band’s symphonic foundation while leaning into a more direct and intense sonic approach.

As a preview, the band has released the single “Ascent”, which highlights the album’s more aggressive side. According to Shagrath, the track is more straightforward than the first single and represents part of the album’s broader range. Silenoz added that the song explores a process of internal transformation, symbolically expressed as an ascent through the body.

The album release will be supported by a North American tour, marking the band’s first headlining run in the region since 2018. The tour will include stops in cities such as New York, Chicago, Toronto, and Los Angeles, with Hypocrisy, Suffocation and Hulder as support acts.

Following that, Dimmu Borgir will join Behemoth for the European co-headlining tour “In League With Satan”, featuring Dark Funeral across multiple countries in October 2026.

The schedule concludes with a special event on October 31 in Oslo, where the band will headline “Unholy Halloween” alongside Enslaved and Satyricon.
