After nearly two decades of speculation, the long-rumored Slipknot side project Look Outside Your Window is finally set for an official release in 2026, closing one of the most mysterious chapters in the history of the Iowa collective Slipknot.
The material was recorded in 2008 during the sessions for All Hope Is Gone and features Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn Crahan. Unlike Slipknot’s trademark sound, the project ventured into more atmospheric, introspective, and experimental territory.
Shawn “Clown” Crahan previously clarified that Look Outside Your Window was never intended as a Slipknot album: “It wasn’t Slipknot. It was something completely different, an emotional and artistic exploration that didn’t belong within the band.”
For years, the project remained shelved, becoming a near-mythical artifact among fans. The decision to finally release it reflects a desire to preserve a specific creative moment, captured during a period of personal and artistic transition for the musicians involved.
The release is scheduled for Record Store Day 2026, emphasizing the project’s special and archival nature. Rather than a simple collection of unreleased tracks, Look Outside Your Window stands as a fully realized work that offers a rare glimpse into a lesser-known side of the artists.
Stripped of Slipknot’s signature aggression, the album showcases a different sensibility built on layered textures, restrained dynamics, and an introspective atmosphere. For longtime followers, its release expands the creative universe surrounding Slipknot and reaffirms the restless artistic drive that has always defined its core members beyond the confines of the band itself.
