Polish extreme metal pioneers Behemoth have unveiled a visually striking and thematically aggressive music video for “Nomen Barbarvm,” one of the central compositions from their latest and critically acclaimed album, The Shit Ov God.
Directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz, the video presents an apocalyptic vision filled with symbolism, occult references, and a deliberate subversion of religious iconography. This visual approach fully aligns with Behemoth’s long-established artistic mission, rooted in confrontation, provocation, and carefully crafted dark aesthetics.
The production stands out for its cinematic quality, employing dramatic lighting, elaborate costumes, and a ritualistic, shadow-drenched setting that amplifies the song’s intensity. The result is an epic visual narrative that accompanies one of the most melodic yet groove-driven tracks Behemoth have released in recent years.
Band leader Nergal commented on the conceptual foundation of the song and its lyrics: “‘I believe as I speak.’ Isn’t that, in essence, Crowley’s ‘Do what thou wilt,’ just expressed in slightly different words? This idea became the lyrical leitmotif of ‘Nomen Barbarvm,’ possibly one of the most melodic, but also grooviest tracks Behemoth has ever recorded. Very soon, we will put it to the test live on our upcoming tour.”
Behemoth are gearing up for an intense year on the road, with confirmed tours across Asia, Australia, and North America, alongside major European festival appearances. The live campaign will kick off in early February, bringing The Shit Ov God to stages worldwide in a new chapter of sonic and visual confrontation.
