Eivør has released “Spøkilsir / Revenants,” a new preview of Tungl, her forthcoming studio album, due October 16, 2026 via Nuclear Blast. The new track blends dream-pop and trip-hop textures into a meditation on accepting what remains from our past, from decisions we wish we had handled differently to the imperfections we attempt to keep hidden.
The Faroese singer-songwriter frames the song around the ways people learn to live with those uncomfortable parts of themselves. For Eivør, the “ghosts” referenced in the title are not simply memories, but also mistakes, flaws and personal characteristics that can take on a different meaning once they are no longer rejected.
"Creo que todos llevamos fantasmas dentro: situaciones del pasado que nos habría gustado manejar de otra manera, o pequeñas imperfecciones que intentamos ocultar al mundo”, explica. “Cuando aprendemos a aceptar plenamente los defectos, excentricidades y matices más oscuros de los demás, se vuelven entrañables. Nos volvemos más pacientes y comprensivos, no solo con el resto, sino también con nosotros mismos”.
The song appears on Tungl, a 10-song album whose title means “moon” in Faroese. The project follows Enn, released in 2024, while moving further into what Eivør describes as elemental territory, emotional cycles and the search for direction during uncertain periods. Nuclear Blast describes the album as moving between tenderness and pain, love and loss, with transformation and renewal running throughout its 10 songs.
“Spøkilsir / Revenants” arrives with a music video directed by Gwenaël Akira, a longtime creative collaborator of Eivør. The visual concept centers on a custom-built mirrored structure that allows the singer's image to multiply, turning her reflections into different manifestations of the same identity.
"Queríamos plasmar un mundo interior, un reflejo de las voces, sombras y distintas versiones de nosotros mismos que habitan en nuestra mente”, explica Eivør. La cantante señala que Akira concibió una especie de habitación mental construida mediante espejos y desarrollada posteriormente junto a un equipo de artistas de las Islas Feroe.
For Akira, the intention was to use a single constructed space to represent what cannot easily be expressed through words. The multiplication of the body and its reflections therefore becomes a direct extension of the song's concept: multiple versions of one person occupying the same mental space.
The record will be available on CD, digipack and multiple vinyl configurations, including clear and marbled variants, as well as an artist-exclusive edition accompanied by a bonus 7-inch record.
Activity surrounding Tungl will continue immediately after its release. Eivør will perform two consecutive nights at Nordic House in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, on October 16 and 17, followed by an October 23 performance at Harpa's Eldborg Hall in Reykjavík, where she will present the material with guest musicians. A broader international touring cycle will follow.
During the European summer of 2026, she also appeared at festivals including Paléo Festival, Brutal Assault, Summer Breeze and ArcTanGent, continuing a career that has increasingly moved between folk, alternative music, metal festivals and larger international stages.
