Polish extreme metal giants BEHEMOTH have unveiled “I, Scvlptor,” the first single and title track from their upcoming release I, Scvlptor, arriving on September 4, 2026.
Musically, “I, Scvlptor” carries the monumental scale and epic weight often associated with some of the band's most expansive compositions while also introducing new elements into their sonic identity.
Nergal explained the creative approach behind the track:
“‘I, Scvlptor’ is a new Behemoth song rooted in the tradition of monumental tracks such as ‘O Father O Satan O Sun!’, ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Nieboga Czarny Xiądz’, while opening a new chapter at the same time. It carries that epic weight but takes an unexpected turn that makes it feel fresh and different from previous songs.”
He also discussed the lyrical concept behind the single:
“Lyrically, it is a metaphor for the endless process of sculpting oneself — an uneven struggle with matter and personal limitations. The paradox is that from the moment we are born, we are already destined to die, so perhaps it is not about victory itself but rather the constant act of sculpting who we are.”
Although I, Scvlptor is not being presented as a traditional studio album, the release will feature eight previously unheard tracks, including seven new studio recordings and one live song.
The project also revisits earlier chapters of the band's history. Two classic tracks from BEHEMOTH's early years will receive new versions: “Rise of the Blackstorm of Evil” from The Return of the Northern Moon (1992) and “In Thy Pandemaeternum” from Pandemonic Incantations (1998).
The release additionally pays tribute to several of the band's most important influences through cover songs, including Venom's “In League With Satan” featuring Shagrath of Dimmu Borgir, and Bathory's “The Return of Darkness and Evil” featuring Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ.
