Arcadea returns with The Exodus of Gravity: a cosmic synth-rock journey beyond this world

Arcadea returns August 22 with The Exodus of Gravity, a futuristic synth-rock album led by Brann Dailor. First single “Fuzzy Planet” introduces an alien prom and cosmic love story.

Synth-rock trio Arcadea is back with The Exodus of Gravity, arriving August 22 via Relapse Records. The album marks a bold new era for the band—one where gravity has lost its hold and emotion takes center stage in a futuristic soundscape.

With Brann Dailor (Mastodon) stepping into the lead vocalist role and João Nogueira joining Core Atoms on synths, Arcadea dives into a vibrant sonic evolution. “Up is down, down is up,” says Atoms, encapsulating a project that embraces rhythm, groove, and emotional resonance in place of traditional structure.

The first single, “Fuzzy Planet”, arrives with a mesmerizing video directed by Bryan Bankovich, set at Prom 5039: A Nightmare to Remember. In this alien prom-night fantasy, love blossoms among extraterrestrial beings beneath swirling synths and glowing lights. “It’s about that first fuzzy feeling you get when you fall in love,” explains Atoms. “Our lead character is awakening to the beauty around them.”

Dailor adds that the band deliberately shifted away from the proggier tendencies of their debut album. “I already do prog with Mastodon,” he says. “This time, we wanted to make it more dancey, more fun—embracing the electronic side of what Arcadea can be.”

Recorded at West End Sound in the basement of Mastodon’s Ember City studio, the album was self-produced by the band and engineered by Tom Tapley. The Exodus of Gravity will be available on limited-edition vinyl colorways, cassette, and digital formats. Pre-orders and digital pre-saves are now live.
