After leaving aside their status as an instrumental band with 'Sarcoma' three years ago, the Americans Alluvial return with an EP called 'Death Is But A Door' where they confirm that their growing fame is no coincidence and that adding Kevin Muller to the core of the band was a great success.

'Death Is But A Door' isn't something that is going to change the Death Metal genre forever or anything, but it is a well-polished work, carefully made and full of aggressiveness, darkness and disturbing sinister moments, which are mixed with a melody that leans more towards the progressive. It only has four songs, but they provide enough meat to satisfy anyone.

The four songs that the band presents are powerful and murky. The instruments shine equally and combine perfectly with Müller's great voice, which leads the way, starting with 'Bog Dweller', a dense fast track full of crushing riffs. Followed by 'Fogbelt' which lowers the intensity in terms of speed but fills the atmosphere with a sinister feeling and fear.

The cherry on the cake is the song that gives its name to the EP, 'Death is But a Door' a much more melodic song full of mysterious atmospheres, with Müller using his clean vocals to give it a nightmare closure to this job.

'Death Is But A Door' is the continuation of the evolution that Alluvial took for granted in his second studio album and that could earn him a place of honor within the modern Death Metal scene. It is undoubtedly an excellent EP and you will enjoy it a lot if you give it the opportunity.
