After a six-year recording hiatus, Caspian have announced their return with Caspian, the Massachusetts post-rock band’s sixth full-length album, due October 16 via Wax Bodega. The announcement arrives alongside “Remain,” a sweeping nine-minute composition that introduces a record centered less on reinvention than on a deliberate reassessment of the principles that have shaped the band for more than two decades.
“Remain” retains much of the vocabulary that has long defined Caspian: patient development, carefully accumulated tension, expansive melodies and heaviness used as part of a broader dynamic range rather than an endpoint. Across nine minutes, the track moves between restraint and increasingly dense passages, allowing repetition, space and gradual transformation to carry as much weight as its climactic moments.
The song is accompanied by a short film created by Luke Webster Brown and Elijah Sussman, extending the track’s atmosphere into a visual counterpart and providing the first look at the aesthetic surrounding the new album.
For Philip Jamieson, the record represents a process of rediscovery rather than an attempt to force the band into unfamiliar territory. He says Caspian returned to ideas established when the group began more than 20 years ago: structural simplicity, approachable melodic writing and the most direct emotional expression possible.
“Our sixth full-length album isn’t particularly uncharted sonic territory for the band but rather a process of self-discovery and coming to terms with the decisions we’ve made and the people we are,” Jamieson explains.
Caspian was recorded in spring 2026 with producer Brett Romnes, whose credits include Hot Mulligan and The Movielife. The finished album spans 39 minutes across six tracks, with the band resisting the urge to reinvent itself simply for the sake of change.
Evocative melodies, dense instrumental layers, swelling crescendos and crushing weight remain central to the record, but Caspian place equal emphasis on patience, repetition and instinct. The result, according to the band, is an attempt to reconnect with the directness that originally shaped their approach while stripping away anything that did not serve the emotional core of the music.
The album follows On Circles, released in 2020, and ends the longest gap between studio records in Caspian’s career.

The album will be available digitally, on CD and across several limited-edition vinyl variants.
Caspian have also announced two U.S. shows for later this year: December 3 at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn and December 4 at The Paradise in Boston. Before those dates, the band will launch a two-week U.K. and European tour on October 15, one day before the album’s release.
