Queens of the Stone Age Return With "Easy Street"

Queens of the Stone Age have returned with "Easy Street," their first new song since In Times New Roman (2023), alongside an official music video starring Josh Homme and Nikki Lane.

Queens of the Stone Age have released "Easy Street," their first new song since In Times New Roman (2023). The track, which made its live debut during last year's The Catacombs Tour, arrives alongside an official music video directed by Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse, based on an original concept by Josh Homme.

Produced by Josh Homme and Michael Shuman, "Easy Street" blends acoustic guitars, psychedelic synthesizers, and an intentionally loose rhythm section. Rather than polishing every detail, the band chose to preserve tempo fluctuations, imperfect handclaps, and performance mistakes as part of the recording's character.

The song also features guest vocals from Nikki Lane, whose gritty performance contrasts with Homme's smoother vocal delivery, adding another dimension to the track.

Discussing the recording process, Josh Homme explained that the band deliberately approached the song like an early demo.

"It's kind of a funny song. It's like hitting your funny bone, where it's funny because it hurts and it hurts because it's funny. We made it the way you'd make a demo. No click track, mistakes left in. It speeds up, it slows down, the claps aren't great, but they're not bad, and a bad clap adds this human thing you can't fake."

Homme added that the song ultimately embraces imperfection.

"It's not just about silliness. It's about understanding the imperfection of your life. The song, like your life, is in the mistakes. Its imperfections are unbeatable."

El videoclip desarrolla una historia concebida por el propio HommeThe accompanying video follows a bruised Josh Homme attempting to outrun a group of unusual pursuers, including his own bandmates portraying characters such as a Juggalo, a mall Santa, a leather enthusiast, and an elegantly dressed cowboy leading a miniature horse. The story concludes with an unexpected twist that pays tribute to outsiders and those often overlooked. Juggalo, a Santa Claus de centro comercial, un aficionado al cuero y un vaquero acompañado por un caballo miniatura. La historia concluye con un giro que reivindica a quienes suelen ser vistos como inadaptados o marginados.
