Aurora View push further into dark territory with new single “ima dog”

Aurora View release “ima dog”, a darker and more confrontational track exploring toxic devotion and emotional self-erasure.

Los Angeles-based outfit Aurora View have released their new single and music video “ima dog,” marking a significant step forward in their sonic evolution ahead of their forthcoming full-length album under Out Of Line Music.

Mixed by Courtney Ballard, known for his work with All Time Low and Hollywood Undead, the track pushes Aurora View deeper into genre-fluid territory, blending alt-rock with electronic textures, dark pop structures and the emotional palette of contemporary sadboy rap.

“Ima dog” builds on the emotional groundwork established in previous singles like “Butterfly” and “GIMP,” but approaches its subject matter with a more immediate and confrontational tone. Where earlier releases explored emotional collapse as a gradual descent, this track sustains a constant tension that amplifies its impact.

Lyrically, the song examines toxic devotion and the psychological toll of erasing oneself to satisfy others. It presents an unsettling perspective on emotional submission, where loyalty becomes self-destructive and identity is gradually hollowed out.

Ballard’s production reinforces this narrative through a dense and controlled sonic framework, combining heavy low-end with fractured electronic layers and a vocal delivery that shifts between melodic restraint and emotional fracture. The result is a track that maintains a persistent sense of instability, aligning closely with its thematic core.

Since their formation, Aurora View have built a reputation for blending alt-rock, electronic, post-industrial and pop elements into a restless and immersive sound. Their catalog — including Death Spells and singles such as “Wishbones,” “Lovesick,” and “Rose Whiplash” — has accumulated millions of streams and strong playlist presence.
