Brent Hinds breaks the silence: "Mastodon is a shitty band with horrible humans"

Brent Hinds, former guitarist and founding member of Mastodon, has once again made headlines by launching a harsh criticism of his former bandmates. On his personal Instagram account, the musician responded to a fan who said, "We will definitely miss B. Hinds," with a comment as brief as it is powerful: "I won't miss being in a shitty band with horrible humans."

The message appeared on a Mastodon post celebrating the anniversary of the album Once More ’Round the Sun. Although Hinds’ comment had a spelling error (“I want miss” instead of “I won’t miss”), the message was clear and direct, sparking a wave of reactions among fans, media outlets, and musicians close to the scene.

These words contrast with the tone the band adopted when they announced their departure in March. At the time, they spoke of it as a "mutual" decision and publicly thanked Hinds for his musical contribution and years of collaboration. However, the guitarist's recent comment suggests a much more conflicted story behind the split.

Since then, Mastodon has continued with their plans without Hinds. They initially relied on guest musicians to fill his touring spot, including guitarists renowned for their technical prowess, while they continue to search for a permanent replacement. The transition hasn't been easy, and it's clear that the band's chemistry has had to adapt.

For his part, Brent Hinds hasn't stopped making music. In addition to his involvement in side projects like Fiend Without a Face, he remains active in the scene and seems determined to stay away from any ties to his former band. With this statement, he seems to have closed a definitive phase of his life, with no intention of looking back.
