The Pretty Reckless have released a bonus version of 'About You,' a song from 'Dear God,' their fifth studio album, featuring Dave Grohl and Pat Smear of Foo Fighters. Grohl plays drums and sings; Smear adds guitar. A founder of The Germs and Nirvana's touring guitarist in their final years, Smear has played alongside Grohl in Foo Fighters since the band's early days. Taylor Momsen keeps the verses, Grohl joins on the chorus, and in the bridge the two trade lines in a call-and-response, over heavier guitars than on the original recording.
"'About You' is one of my favorite songs on the record, so I wanted to do something special. I called Dave and Pat and asked them if they'd lend their magic to it," Momsen said. "It was an amazing time in the studio making music, there's nothing better than jamming with friends."
'Dear God' came out June 26 via Fearless Records, produced by Momsen, guitarist Ben Phillips and Jonathan Wyman, who also handled engineering and mixing. All 14 songs were written by Momsen and Phillips, with bassist Mark Damon and drummer Jamie Perkins on the recording. The album was preceded by 'For I Am Death,' released in August 2025, and 'When I Wake Up,' from March of this year, along with the previews 'Love Me' and 'Dear God.' 'About You' sits eighth on a tracklist that opens, splits and closes with three short pieces: 'Life Evermore Pt. 2,' 'Pt. 3' and 'Pt. 1,' in that order. It reached No. 6 in the UK, No. 2 in Scotland, No. 4 in Austria and No. 7 in Germany and Australia. "It's almost ripped from my diary, so there's a vulnerable brutality to this record," Momsen told Kerrang! of the album, the band's first since 'Death by Rock and Roll' (2021). "It's taking my entire past and present and moving it into my future," she added.
Formed in New York in 2009, the band debuted with 'Light Me Up' (2010), which included 'Make Me Wanna Die' and 'Miss Nothing,' and followed with 'Going to Hell' (2014) and 'Who You Selling For' (2016). With 'Dear God' out, The Pretty Reckless spent much of 2026 in stadiums as the opening act on AC/DC's 'Power Up' tour, which reached Mexico City's Estadio GNP Seguros in April. At one of those dates, Momsen was bitten on the leg by a spider before going on stage; doctors in Mexico treated her with an injection against the venom, and the singer later described it in a video on social media.
On that tour, The Pretty Reckless were unable to play two dates because of scheduling conflicts, and Foo Fighters took their place, including in St. Louis, Missouri, where they played a surprise set. At the tour's final show, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Grohl joined AC/DC to sing 'Highway to Hell.'
The band set out in November on a European and UK headline tour. It opens November 9 at La Riviera in Madrid and November 10 at Razzmatazz in Barcelona, moves through Milan, Prague, Berlin, Cologne, Amsterdam, Paris, Bristol, Wolverhampton and Manchester, and closes at London's O2 Academy Brixton on December 1 and Glasgow's Barrowland on December 3. In late January, The Pretty Reckless share the stage with Foo Fighters again as guests at two shows in India.
