For 5 years, when Trent Reznor decided to take a break that risked the continuity of tours and new material from Nine Inch NailsMany fans took it for granted not to see them again for a long time (or perhaps never again). But on Thursday, March 27, after almost 6 years since her last visit to Mexico, the pretty hate machine He made all his fans fall in love again with a surprising and powerful setlist, closing the first date of Vive Latino with such passion that he left a remarkable mark.
After having witnessed well-known bands such as AFI (A Fire Inside) and the return of Left-handed after 11 years of absence, at 10:15 pm the stellar of the Indian Stage began, NIN, only his keyboardist showing up, Alessandro Cortini, quien interpretó el tema instrumental: “A warm place”.
The lights reigned over the place and the appearance of Trent Reznor, Robin Finck and Ilan Rubin they emphasized the odyssey of power and energy that was going to start with the song “Somewhat Damaged”, unleashing a tide of people moving everywhere in the public divide.
This excitement continued with songs like “Letting You” and "Terrible Lie“, pero esto no dio ni un sólo respiro o compasión ya que el puente de canciones como “Survivalism" and "March of the pigs” liberó a un público felizmente enloquecido y tanto hombres como mujeres participaron en la gran danza de slam, brincos y empujones, dejando muchas marcas de guerra (moretones).
The moment of calm was with “Piggy”, ante las celebres palabras de sus coros como “Nothing can´t stop me now, ´Cus I don´t care anymore”, pasando a la sensualidad y seducción de “Sanctified”, recordando su primer Halo de hace 25 años, “Pretty Hate Machine”.
The debut of his new material was present with “Dissapointed” and “All Time Low”, the latter being a special for a small fusion with some lyrics of the song “Closer”, que por cierto, fue descartada completamente de la noche. “Trent Reznor nos está trolleando con esto” -comentaba un fan al escuchar esta mezcla-.
The surprises continued tonight, the stage turned reddish with the song “Burn” and then the group tackled the album “Year Zero” the song “Me, I´m not” followed by “The great destroyer”.
The last drops of energy were expended on “Copy of A”, “Wish”, “The Hand that Feeds” and “Head Like a Hole”, showing a Trent Reznor quite happy to see his audience delivered with NIN.
And the flourish, among tears, choirs and lighters was “Hurt”, the end of a night that stole the strength of each person present, reliving the new promise to return but without taking too long as the last time, to applause and smiles.
What if it was the best presentation of Nine Inch Nails in Mexico? I dare say yes, despite having previously experienced the visual beauty they had in 2008 with Lights in the sky. The emotion was carried away by the presentation of 2005 for having been the first in Mexico, but the most aggressive and frenetic essence without any doubt was that of this Thursday.
Thank you Trent, Robin, Alessandro and Ian for reuniting the public as it is NIN Mexico and reward with a setlist tailored to these 25 years of history, with no specific preference for an album or halo. We´re in this together!
