LØLØ has released a new version of “delusional darling” featuring Ella Red, bringing into the studio a collaboration that developed during the Canadian artist's recent European tour. The original track appears on god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!, LØLØ's second album, released April 17, 2026 through Fearless Records.
The new recording arrived on September 18 and retains the central idea of a song built around romantic denial: the point where inventing excuses for someone's behavior feels easier than accepting that the relationship simply is not working. The version with Ella Red expands the vocal dynamic the pair had been developing onstage for months. It is now listed across digital platforms as an official collaboration between both artists.
For LØLØ, “delusional darling” starts with a quality she openly recognizes in herself: a tendency to believe the best about people even when the warning signs suggest otherwise.
“For better or for worse, I'm one of the most delusional people I know. I like to think the best of people, even when there are huge red flags telling me otherwise.”
She describes the song as a satirical, deliberately exaggerated portrait of the ways people rationalize bad behavior from someone they care about. Instead of immediately confronting an uncomfortable conclusion, its narrator rewrites her perception of events until delusion temporarily becomes easier than reality.
The partnership with Ella Red developed because the song became a shared moment during the European tour. Red supported LØLØ on the run and joined her for “delusional darling” on multiple nights. A May review from Birmingham documented the pair performing the song together, while tour records also show their collaboration in Manchester.
"Después de invitar a Ella a cantarla conmigo todas las noches durante mi gira europea, a todos los fans les encantó”, explica LØLØ. La respuesta terminó convenciendo a ambas de registrar formalmente aquella versión. La propia cantante adelantó el lanzamiento el 10 de septiembre señalando que habían disfrutado tanto interpretándola juntas durante la gira que decidieron grabarla.
The collaboration arrives only days after LØLØ appeared at Vans Warped Tour Mexico City 2026 on September 13 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Her performances included both original material and covers.
She is now in the North American leg of god forbid a girl goes on tour!, which opened on September 17 at Toronto's The Opera House, in her hometown. “delusional darling” remained in the set, while the show also featured “Hey There Delilah” after LØLØ recently joined Plain White T’s frontman Tom Higgenson for a new recording of the 2000s hit. That version was released July 31 through Fearless Records.
