DOWN have released the official video for “The Myth,” a new single from their forthcoming album Volume V, due November 20, 2026 through Nuclear Blast Records. Directed by MetalDave Media, the video accompanies a song built around compact riffs, pounding rhythms and a mid-song shift that opens the track into more expansive ’70s hard-rock territory.
“The Myth” will also open the album. Philip H. Anselmo said the track carries a clear nod to Trouble, while his vocal approach draws inspiration from singers including James Dewar, Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy Osbourne and Glenn Hughes. Those influences appear less as direct imitation than in the phrasing, melodic weight and broader character of the performance.
Pat Bruders said the track nearly wrote itself once the group began working on it together, and Jimmy Bower called it one of his favourite songs on the new record, highlighting its weight and the way every section falls naturally into place.
Volume V begins another chapter for a band that has never operated on a conventional release schedule. DOWN reconvene when the timing works, and that irregularity has become as much a part of their identity as low-tuned riffs, heavy grooves and the Southern-rock influence running through their music.
“The Myth” does not soften any of those elements. It hits immediately, expands into a looser passage and then settles back into the combination of guitars, rhythm section and vocals that has defined the group for decades.
Volume V will be released on November 20, 2026 through Nuclear Blast Records.
