Scottish pirate metal band Alestorm has released its third single ‘The Storm’, a track that will be included in its upcoming album The Thunderfist Chronicles, scheduled for release this Friday via Napalm Records.
With their signature energetic and carefree style, the song unleashes a wave of powerful riffs, sing-along choruses, and epic melodies that capture the full fury of the seas, reaffirming the group's festive and overflowing identity.
Following the success of their seventh album, Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum, which topped international charts, Alestorm returns with an even more extravagant offering. The Thunderfist Chronicles will feature eight new pirate anthems packed with absurd narratives, rum-soaked melodies, and boundless energy, further cementing their leadership within the unique pirate metal subgenre.
After an extensive international tour and the release of the EP Voyage of the Dead Marauder last year, Alestorm continues its chaotic reign over the metal scene. Their reputation on stage remains intact, with overflowing shows that transform each performance into a true pirate party, complete with inflatable ducks, crowds sailing on inflatable boats, and an irreverent atmosphere that has turned them into a live phenomenon.
Speaking about the new single, vocalist Christopher Bowes explained with his usual humorous tone that the song is inspired by the raw, viscous power of hot asphalt. Between jokes about late-night debates and alcoholic beverages, he stated that "nothing represents pirate metal better than molten tar and industrial paving." This peculiar thematic approach once again demonstrates Alestorm's ability to combine humor, powerful music, and a unique identity within contemporary metal.
