A Perfect Circle has released a new “Starless” video documenting the song’s first live performance, filmed during a sold-out show in London. The release arrives as the single spends its second consecutive week at the top of Active Rock radio, according to the band’s announcement, and ahead of the group’s return to international touring on November 25.
“Starless” arrived on May 27, 2026, just days before A Perfect Circle began its European and UK tour. Its release allowed the group to bring newly available material into that run of performances, which opened with two sold-out concerts at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, scheduled for June 3 and 4.
The studio recording was made at Lankershim Ranch Studio, Billy Howerdel’s workspace in Studio City, California. The guitarist handled production, while Matty Green mixed the track. Green’s previous credits include work with U2, Florence + the Machine and TV on the Radio. Drums were played by Josh Freese, a longtime A Perfect Circle collaborator.
Howerdel described a writing process that moved unusually quickly compared with songs that require years of revision. “Some songs get kicked around and massaged for years,” he explained. “But once in a while, one takes shape quickly, as if it had been there all along.” His comment concerns the creation of “Starless”, whose release preceded this new live document by several months.
A Perfect Circle resumes touring on November 25, 2026, with a route covering Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Hawaii. The itinerary extends the live activity that began with the European and UK dates, now with both songs available to listeners following this period of the band’s work.
The next US and Canadian tour begins on April 13, 2027. Special guests will divide the itinerary into two sections: Puscifer will accompany A Perfect Circle from April 13 to 25, while The Cult joins on April 27 and remains on the run through June 13. Puscifer’s involvement means Keenan will perform with two of his projects during the opening stretch. rockcellarmagazine.com
