Twin Temple Announce Doomed Lovers and Release the Title Track

Twin Temple have unveiled Doomed Lovers, their first album since God Is Dead, alongside the release of the title track and new touring plans.

Twin Temple have announced Doomed Lovers, their upcoming studio album, scheduled for release this fall as the follow-up to God Is Dead (2023). The announcement arrives alongside the release of the album's title track, offering the first preview of the duo's next chapter.

The record was produced by Shooter Jennings and recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood. During the sessions, the band used analog recording equipment, worked with a 37-piece orchestra, and collaborated with acclaimed session musicians Matt Chamberlain and Jay Bellerose.

Musically, "Doomed Lovers" continues the vintage pop aesthetic that has become a hallmark of Twin Temple, while exploring themes of love, loss, obsession, and devotion.

In a statement, the band described the song as the philosophical centerpiece of the album.

"This is the philosophical centerpiece of the album — a theatrical and confessional take on all-or-nothing love, the dark side of devotion, and centuries-old Romantic literary themes. It longs for a love so enduring and eternal that it ultimately consumes, obliterates, and drives one to madness and death."

According to the duo, the song revolves around a single question:

"What happens when your lover dies?"

Rather than embracing the conventional idea of moving on, the song deliberately explores a more obsessive and emotionally uncompromising perspective.

Doomed Lovers will be Twin Temple's first full-length release since God Is Dead, issued in 2023. The announcement follows a week of heightened media attention for the band after it stated that it had been removed from two Charley Crockett shows because of its Satanic imagery. Shortly afterward, Jack White invited the duo to open one of his concerts at the Hollywood Palladium, although that performance has not yet been officially confirmed.
