The HU continue pushing the boundaries of Mongolian folk metal with the official announcement of their upcoming studio album HUN and the release of “Lost Soul”, a brand-new collaboration featuring Nothing More frontman Jonny Hawkins.
Released on May 20, the track represents one of the band’s most ambitious and accessible offerings yet, combining THE HU’s traditional sonic identity with modern hard rock influences, tribal rhythms and arena-ready intensity.
“Lost Soul” opens with a hypnotic rhythmic pulse before Jonny Hawkins enters with his powerful melodic vocals. Moments later, the track erupts into crushing guitars, tribal percussion and the signature Mongolian throat singing that has transformed THE HU into one of modern metal’s most distinctive acts.
According to the band, the song aims to deliver messages centered around resilience, personal strength and the ability to confront life’s obstacles without losing identity or values.
Vocalist and morin khuur player Galaa explained: “To not lose yourself on your life journey, to keep your values and have the courage to face obstacles are messages we want to send through ‘Lost Soul’ and the upcoming album.”
Meanwhile, Jonny Hawkins expressed his excitement about the collaboration: “I’m incredibly excited to work with a band as committed to their craft as THE HU. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever done before.”
The new album HUN arrives on July 24 through Better Noise Music and will mark the band’s first full-length release since 2022’s Rumble of Thunder, the record that further solidified THE HU’s growing global impact.
Alongside “Lost Soul,” the album also includes previously released tracks such as “The Real You”, “The Men” and “Warrior Chant.” However, the Jonny Hawkins version of “Lost Soul” will only appear on the digital edition of the album.
Since their international breakthrough with songs like “Wolf Totem” and “Yuve Yuve Yu,” THE HU quickly became one of modern metal’s most innovative and recognizable acts thanks to their fusion of traditional Mongolian instrumentation, throat singing and contemporary heavy metal structures. The band has also successfully connected with diverse audiences worldwide, previously collaborating with artists including Papa Roach and Halestorm while appearing in major video games, international festivals and large-scale tours.
Currently, THE HU are touring alongside Apocalyptica while also preparing for appearances on the summer “Freaks on Parade” tour featuring Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson.
