Industrial rock pioneers Nine Inch Nails have unveiled TRON Ares: Divergence, a 20-song companion album expanding the music created for the upcoming film TRON: Ares.
The project features previously unreleased material developed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross during the creation of the film’s soundtrack, alongside remixes by several prominent electronic artists.

The release arrives during a particularly active period for Nine Inch Nails. Earlier this month, the band won the 2026 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song for As Alive As You Need Me to Be, one of the standout tracks connected to the TRON: Ares project.
Featuring Trent Reznor’s vocals — one of the few vocal performances on the soundtrack — the track has been described as a digital sonic storm that reflects the film’s themes surrounding artificial life and existential identity.

Beyond the new album, Reznor recently confirmed that he and Ross are actively working on new material for Nine Inch Nails.
“We are working on new stuff and we’re excited to work on it. Right now we’re prioritizing working on Nine Inch Nails instead of taking every other project that comes along,” he explained.
He also hinted that the band’s creative momentum has returned: “The difference between now and a year ago is that the fuse has been lit and the desire is there.”
