The creative world of Puscifer continues to grow with the release of “Tales From The Pusciverse #2: The Briefcase,” the newest installment of the comic series inspired by the surreal mythology surrounding the project led by Maynard James Keenan.
The second issue arrives after the debut edition of the series quickly sold out following its introduction of the character Bellendia Black, forcing multiple print runs due to high demand among fans of the expanding Pusciverse narrative.
This new installment focuses on one of the longest-running mysteries within the band’s visual storytelling: the briefcase. For years, the object has appeared in Puscifer videos and promotional imagery, prompting a recurring question among fans: “What’s in the briefcase?”
The comic was written by Maynard James Keenan and features artwork by Marlin Shoop, known for titles such as Captain Action, G.I. Joe and Unprepped. Lettering was handled by Jack Morelli, whose credits include Afterlife with Archie, Peter Parker Annual and projects with Marvel Comics.
Speaking about the storyline, Keenan said: “The Briefcase has been part of the Puscifer mythology for years. Everyone wonders what exactly is inside. This issue doesn’t necessarily answer the question… but it moves the story forward.”
Illustrator Marlin Shoop added: “Issue #2 pulls you deeper into the mystery of the briefcase, and illustrating that chaos was half the fun.”
The issue also marks the comic debut of Major Douché, one of the earliest and most recognizable characters within the Pusciverse. The character originally appeared ahead of Puscifer’s 2009 residency in Las Vegas, which marked the band’s live debut, and later appeared in the concert film “V Is For Versatile.”
“Tales From The Pusciverse” comics are available exclusively through the band’s official website.
Meanwhile, Puscifer continue promoting their latest album Normal Isn’t, released through Puscifer Entertainment, Alchemy Recordings and BMG.
The band’s North American tour begins March 20, bringing their distinctive multimedia performance and storytelling universe back to the stage.
