Avatar frontman Johannes Eckerström has released a video statement addressing the incident that forced the band to cut short their February 14 performance at Exhibition White City in London. The concert ended after 12 songs, while their current European/UK set typically includes around 17.
According to Eckerström, the entire stage became electrified, resulting in damaged equipment and severe electric shocks to two members of the road crew. The issue was attributed to an electrical fault at the venue, prompting the band to deem the location unsafe for continued performance.
The affected crew members are reportedly fine, and Eckerström acknowledged that the band and staff were fortunate the situation did not escalate further. As a precautionary measure, production halted the show to avoid additional risk to both performers and attendees.
The singer thanked the London audience for their energy during the hour-plus set they were able to deliver, noting that the performance was intended to be longer. However, he emphasized that safety had to come first.
Avatar expressed their intention to return to London as soon as possible in order to make things right, promising to find a safe venue to complete the show properly and give fans the full experience they deserve.
