British cult trio The Tiger Lillies return to Mexico with their latest theatrical concert, Serenade from the Sewer, set to take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Circo Volador in Mexico City.
Formed in 1989 by Martyn Jacques, The Tiger Lillies have long been hailed as the pioneers of death-oompah — an audacious blend of punk cabaret, operatic storytelling, and grotesque humor. With Jacques’ haunting falsetto and accordion melodies, their performances explore the beauty and darkness of society’s forgotten souls.
Winners of the Olivier Award and Grammy nominees, the band has spent over three decades touring globally, presenting acclaimed theatrical works such as Shockheaded Peter and A Macbeth Song. Their artistic reach also extends to film, having composed the soundtrack for Modi: Three Days on Wings of Madness, directed by Johnny Depp.
Serenade from the Sewer is a new collection of songs inspired by outcasts and dreamers, set against a backdrop of urban decay and poetic melancholy.
Frontman Martyn Jacques describes the inspiration:
“Many of my songs are about people who live on the fringes. Back in the 80s, I’d watch from my window in Soho — the dealers, the prostitutes, the lost souls. Serenade from the Sewer revisits those stories.”
Current lineup: 🎭 Martyn Jacques – vocals, accordion, piano, guitar 🎻 Adrian Stout – double bass, musical saw, theremin, vocals 🥁 Budi Butenop – percussion, voodoo drum
Tickets are available via Superboletos and at the Circo Volador box office, priced between $800 and $1,200 MXN.
