A Perfect Circle mark 25 years of Mer de Noms with special vinyl editions

A Perfect Circle celebrate 25 years of Mer de Noms with two limited editions: a 2LP zoetrope vinyl and an audiophile One-Step Definitive Sound Series pressing.

A Perfect Circle’s landmark debut Mer de Noms turns 25 this year, and the band are celebrating with two exclusive releases that highlight both its striking visuals and groundbreaking sound: a 2LP zoetrope vinyl and an audiophile One-Step pressing from the Definitive Sound Series (DSS).

The zoetrope vinyl, out September 25, features four unique animations—one on each side of the LP. These include the album’s signature glyphs, rare images from the original photo shoot with Maynard James Keenan, Billy Howerdel, Josh Freese, Paz Lenchantin, and Troy Van Leeuwen, clips from David Fincher’s Judith video, and a mesmerizing display of the band’s iconic logo.

Meanwhile, the One-Step DSS edition, available October 10, offers unmatched audio fidelity. Mastered from 96kHz/24bit transfers of the original analog masters and strictly limited to 3,000 hand-numbered copies, it preserves the raw depth and nuance of the original recording.

Reflecting on the creation of the album, Keenan described the sessions as “emotional, a place to explore the shadow aspects of myself”, while Howerdel recalled “getting goosebumps” upon first hearing Keenan’s vocals laid over their early tracks.

Upon its release in May 2000, Mer de Noms made history as the highest-charting debut from a rock band, entering the Billboard Top 200 at #4. Featuring enduring tracks like Judith, 3 Libras, and Rose, the record established A Perfect Circle as one of the most compelling new acts of its era. Now, these anniversary editions bring the music back to life in both visual and sonic brilliance.
