Visionary musician, poet, and activist Serj Tankian has announced Covers, Collaborations & Collages, an ambitious project that bridges genres while celebrating unity, reinvention, and the transformative power of storytelling.
The journey begins with the release of “Electric Dreams”, available now via Serjical Strike Records/Create Music Group. Over the next ten weeks, Tankian will unveil a new track each week, leading to the full album’s release on October 24, 2025.
This eclectic collection includes deeply personal reinterpretations and standout collaborations. Among them, a haunting reimagining of Chris de Burgh’s “I’m Counting On You”, elevated by Tankian’s unmistakable emotional delivery.
The album also brings together remarkable artistic partnerships: producer Deadmau5 on the hypnotic “A Seed”; New Zealand singer/songwriter Bic Runga in the ethereal duet “Things Unspoken”; and acclaimed composer Lucas Vidal, who joins Tankian on the cinematic “Apocalyptic Dance”, where he declares: “There are no more empires / Just burning campfires”, evoking visions of humanity’s collapse.
Tankian also honors his Armenian heritage with a moving cover of Ruben Hakhverdyan’s “When Death Arrives”, a meditation on mortality, love, and truth from the perspective of the departed.
Visually, the project is complemented by artwork from D.S. Bradford, who designed each single’s cover as well as the album’s main art. Bradford also contributes lead guitar on “Kneeling Away From The Sun.” With each weekly release, Tankian will share the inspirations, stories, and intentions behind the music, offering fans an unprecedented look into his creative process.
