Sonata Arctica has released the song 'Dark Empath', the new single from their new studio album, 'Clear Cold Beyond', which will arrive on March 8 via Atomic Fire Records / Reigning Phoenix Music. The song is a sequel to the song 'Don't Say A Word'.
“This song is part of a saga that started on our second album 'Silence' in 2001 (some even think it started on our debut album with the song 'The End Of This Chapter') and already has many sequels and prequels. Its theme offers a framework for writing songs in a certain style that I really like. People don't seem to care about this, fortunately. It is not a chronological story, but rather a theme with recurring and familiar characters who end up living variations of the theme over and over again,” says Tony Kakko.
“We've felt for a while now that we needed to go heavier after a couple of unintentionally softer albums. We still love those albums, but in terms of finding foundational songs for a feel-good melodic metal concert, the previous album didn't have much to offer. We're getting back into metal, which feels like a new beginning, and the new songs have been a lot of fun to write and record. We can't wait to tour this album and see how the public reacts when we do it again."
