American artist Violet Grohl has released “Cool Buzz”, a new single taken from her debut album Be Sweet To Me, scheduled for release on May 29 via Aurora Records / Republic Records.
The track delivers a raw and energetic approach, built on a rough-edged instrumentation that draws from late 1980s and early 1990s alternative rock aesthetics. Lyrically, the song addresses contradictions within certain music spaces, questioning progressive rhetoric that is not reflected in real practices, particularly regarding opportunities for women.
The official music video, directed by Niki Milan Houston, will premiere on May 1, expanding the visual context of the track.
“Cool Buzz” follows previously released singles “THUM”, “Applefish” and “595”, each highlighting different aspects of the album’s direction. The record was tracked in Los Angeles at producer Justin Raisen’s studio, using a collaborative recording approach inspired by classic session musician workflows.
The album’s influences draw from alternative and indie rock of the late 20th century, referencing artists such as Pixies, Soundgarden, PJ Harvey and Björk, reflected in both composition and aesthetic direction.
Alongside the release, Violet Grohl has announced her first headlining East Coast tour, with dates in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., marking her entry into live performance as a solo headliner.
The album will be available in multiple physical formats, including exclusive vinyl editions.
