Jack Osbourne opens up about Ozzy’s death and reflects on farewell and legacy

Jack Osbourne recalled learning of his father Ozzy’s death, describing a farewell marked by pain, love, and reflection on the eternal legacy of the “Prince of Darkness.”

Jack Osbourne has spoken candidly about the death of his father, Ozzy Osbourne, offering intimate details of how he learned the news and how he experienced the final farewell.

He recalled his last conversation with Ozzy on July 13, before traveling to Los Angeles. At that time, his father was in good spirits and enjoying a period of calm. But everything changed in the early hours of July 22, when, at around 3:45 a.m., a trusted family employee knocked on his door to deliver the devastating news that Ozzy had died in London. “In that moment, everything stopped. I felt pain, sadness, anger, frustration… but then came an unexpected sense of relief, because he was no longer suffering,” Jack revealed.

He admitted that the moment brought a storm of emotions: “It was as if my mind and heart couldn’t process everything at once. I was shattered, but part of me knew he had found peace.” For Jack, knowing that his father passed away surrounded by love made the loss more bearable.

He also addressed speculation surrounding Ozzy’s passing, dismissing it firmly: “My dad was happy after his last show and excited about a new chapter. He wanted to spend more time in England, be around my kids, and continue living. Nothing like what’s been said.”

Jack described returning to London as one of the hardest moments of his life. During the flight, his phone was flooded with messages of condolence from friends, colleagues, and fans worldwide. “It was overwhelming to see that outpouring of love, but also comforting. It validated just how much he meant to so many people.”

Reflecting on grief, he explained: “It’s been a tough few weeks for all of us. Each family member is handling it in their own way, but we’re united in this. Grief is the price we pay for love, and I’m at peace with that.”

Jack concluded by speaking of Ozzy’s legacy beyond music: “Ozzy doesn’t end with his death. His energy has exploded into the universe, and we’re all still feeling it. He wasn’t just the Prince of Darkness—he was a father and a grandfather who left knowing how much he was loved. That’s the memory I’ll carry forever.”
