The New York band Deadlands has launched its new partnership with Spinefarm Records with the release of its new single, 'Villain'. The video for the song is the work of director Alex Kouvatsos and was recorded at Blackwolf Imaging studios.
“The narrator's story is one of empowerment, as he regains his strength and flips the script against his oppressor,” the band shares. “The image of setting traps and planning attacks symbolizes the strategic and calculated response to the manipulative control of pride, transforming the victim into a formidable force. As the song culminates, the protagonist embraces his role as the 'villain', illustrating how fighting pride can lead to a dark realization of one's power as he succumbs to sin, losing himself and ultimately his life in the process.”
The band is currently working on new material for the label that is inspired by the seven deadly sins.
