CADAVERIA – ‘Far Away from Conformity’

Monotonía a la italiana
Una reedición que se podría decir innecesaria, que no aporta nada realmente novedoso o que haga alguna diferencia sobre el material original. Oportunidad desperdiciada.

Corpse from Italy he returns to the ring, but not with a new album, but he dedicated himself to work on a reissue of his second studio album, "Far away from conformity" originally released in 2004. For this occasion, Raffaella Rivarolo (real name of Corpse) pensó que regrabar algunas voces y remasterizar los temas sería suficiente… Pero no lo fue.

The album opens with "Blood and Confusion”With a linear riff that accelerates in the choruses while the word“ blood ”is repeated with fury. Hence we find "Eleven three or three”That has a more commercial sound and somehow close to the type of metal that predominated in the late 90's and again, accelerations and rhythm changes in the choirs.

"Irreverent Elegy"It seems to have a sound without constant ups and downs, and it goes from less to more in one direction starting from a dark and melodic sound to a good acceleration of riffs and gutturals. The tracklist advances and it is easy to think the previous song continues, but in reality we are already in “The Divine Rapture”, Which speaks of the fact that the rhythm is really very similar between both songs, although of course, clean voices are more present in this fourth track.

FB IMG 1515191263595At this time I hoped that as it happens with many albums, the fifth song was revolutionary and would give a second air to the work to get you hooked on it again, but unfortunately "Omen of DeliriumAlthough it is not bad, it does not have enough to break that monotonous smell that begins to invade my perception towards this work. "Call me"It is the dark and covered version of that classic by the band Blondie, and the effort and recognition is applauded for not paying one more tribute and instead printing all the hallmarks of the characteristic sound of Corpse. If it is good or bad to change the song so much it seems to me to be a more personal matter.

With "Out Body Experience”Finally comes that rudder turn that we have been waiting for so long to get hooked with the album: A powerful and different song with guttural and much heavier tones that are a refreshing experience to leave behind the feeling of past weariness. "Prayer of Sorrow”And its beginning with drums that seem tribal tries to loosen up and maintain a bit of its own essence, getting it flush, because although in periods it seems to sound identical to the first part of the album, in the final conception it has a more unique sound than the difference from the rest (but we insist: not by much). An acoustic guitar marks the beginning of the end with “Vox of Anti-Time”, And the taste in the mouth when the track ends is unfortunately bread with the same.

In conclusion, we can talk about that "Far away from conformity" freckle of total monotony. It is a composition of songs that make up a linear style, and in which individually each song is also repetitive and becomes boring. An album that does not offer an experience of wanting to listen to it from start to finish, but it is easy to get lost and not even know where a track started and another ended.

A missed opportunity for the Italian singer to revitalize one of her first jobs.
