Motorama’s relationship with Mexico has grown alongside the band itself. What began with appearances in considerably smaller venues has developed into one of the Russian group’s most significant international connections, culminating in their first performance at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional in 2026.
The concert represents more than another stop in their trajectory. It also provides a starting point from which to examine how Motorama have evolved over nearly two decades: the transformation of older songs in the live environment, Vladislav Parshin’s increasingly independent approach to recording and releasing music, the world surrounding Sleep, and I Will Sing, and the questions raised by the material that has followed it.
Ahead of their return to Mexico, we spoke with Motorama about the country’s particular place in their history, the differences between studio and stage, the responsibilities of running I’m Home Records, the limitations of the post-punk label and the direction the band’s next chapter might take.
