Corey Beaulieu and Paolo Gregoletto, guitarist and bassist of Trivium, have provided a fresh update on the band's long-awaited next studio album during an interview with Metalshop TV. The follow-up to In The Court Of The Dragon (2021) remains in development and, while no official release date has been set, it could arrive in late 2026 or early 2027.
Beaulieu explained that the record has been in the works for quite some time and is currently in an intermediate stage, with several key steps still needing to be completed before the band can announce a firm release date.
"We've been working on it for a while. It's just kind of at that point where it's in that in-between stage where there's not any official release dates or anything, because there's a lot of other work that we have to get done before we can really set that in stone."
According to the guitarist, the final schedule will largely depend on label logistics and the manufacturing of physical formats, particularly vinyl editions.
"It could be anything from later this year or next year. It's kind of up in the air. It's kind of record label stuff and just being able to get everything done in time. We need enough time to get all the physical products made for vinyl and all that kind of stuff."
Despite the uncertainty, Beaulieu assured fans that the band has continued working on the album whenever they are off the road and believes the wait is almost over.
"It's been something we've been working on off tour for a long time. It's been five years, so there's not too much more to wait, but it's gonna be worth the wait."
The upcoming release will also mark Trivium's first studio album with drummer Alex Rüdinger, who officially joined the band in October 2025 following the departure of Alex Bent.
Rüdinger is well known throughout the metal scene for his work with Whitechapel, The Faceless, Conquering Dystopia, Good Tiger and Threat Signal, among other projects.
The new record will become Trivium's eleventh studio album and the band's first since In The Court Of The Dragon, released in 2021. The album received widespread critical acclaim and further cemented the band's standing as one of modern metal's leading acts.
While continuing work on the new material, Trivium remain active on the road, celebrating the enduring legacy of Ascendancy, one of the defining albums of their career.
