Myrkur brings ritualistic darkness to Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with “Touch My Love And Die”

Myrkur enters Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 with “Touch My Love And Die,” a dark, cinematic ballad blending Nordic folk, metal and ritualistic intensity.

In a space where music is not merely heard but deeply felt, Myrkur steps into Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 with “Touch My Love And Die,” a piece that unfolds more like a ritual than a conventional song. The track embraces darkness openly, allowing it to speak rather than be concealed.

“Touch My Love And Die” is a dark, cinematic ballad where Myrkur’s diverse musical expressions merge into a unified whole. Drawing from metal, Nordic folk traditions and film score aesthetics, the song was recorded in Dolby Atmos using real musicians, including cello, a girls’ choir, ancient folk instruments and intricately captured percussion, creating a tactile and human soundscape.

Lyrically, the song dwells in gothic and supernatural imagery. Love is portrayed as a layered force — a kiss of death, a warning, a spell — balancing release and danger. Myrkur intentionally leaves the meaning open, inviting listeners to find their own interpretations within the song’s emotional and symbolic space.

The track also represents a culmination of profound personal and artistic change. Recorded in winter 2025 with Christopher Juul, Myrkur describes the song as one into which “heart, soul, blood, and tears” were poured, conceived as a counterpoint to a world increasingly shaped by artificiality and disposability.

Commissioned by Danish broadcaster DR, “Touch My Love And Die” enters Dansk Melodi Grand Prix not to conform, but to open new ground. The winning song will represent Denmark at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, and Myrkur’s contribution stands as a statement where darkness is not hidden, but allowed to cast its own form of light.
