Slipknot take a creative breather as a new album begins to take shape

Slipknot are stepping back after years of nonstop activity, while quietly beginning the creative process for their next studio album.

Extreme metal giants Slipknot have confirmed they are entering a period of reduced activity following several intense years of touring and releases. Rather than signaling a halt, the pause marks the early stages of a new creative cycle.

Founding member and percussionist Shawn Crahan, widely known as “Clown,” explained that the band needs time to decompress and reflect. According to him, Slipknot has been operating at full throttle for an extended period, making it necessary to step back and allow ideas to develop naturally.

Despite the slowdown, Crahan confirmed that new music is already brewing. While the writing process is still in its infancy, the absence of deadlines and external pressure suggests a more thoughtful and exploratory approach to the band’s next studio album.

This moment follows a period of internal and artistic transition for Slipknot. In that context, the break offers an opportunity to reassess creative direction, strengthen the band’s core identity and explore new possibilities without the urgency of constant output.
