Listen to Dopamine below.
“Lyrically, ‘Dopamine’ is about the SSRI-induced numbness I experienced a few years ago when taking sertraline, a type of antidepressant. While the medication was really helpful, there were many side effects that I had never heard of. This song is about some of them, and while it's vulnerable to put your experience out there, I hope it helps break the shame and taboo around the topic. Simone reached out to me when I first opened up about this in an interview. , and when the first version of 'Dopamine' appeared on Patreon he texted me saying he liked the song. So when we were working on the album version, it made sense to ask her if she would sing on the song. I'm so happy she agreed and after all the introspection shared, it was so much fun getting carried away wearing pink wigs in ball pits and marshmallow pits for the video shoots. Musically, of the entire new album, 'Dopamine' went through the biggest transformation. What started as an EDM demo for a collaboration with a dance duo that never happened, became an acoustic song of the month on Patreon, which then got a massive overhaul by being repackaged with Timo. The band’s new version is a real hit and Simone’s beautiful guest vocals complete the song.”
