The Canadian Melodic Power Metal bands, Unleash The Archers, presented today the video of his new single, ‘Abyss’, song that gives its new production its name, which will be available from August 21 through Napalm Records. You can preorder the album, here. The video is the work of the direct Rod Scobie.
“Esta canción marcó la pauta para todo el disco; de forma conceptual, lírica y musicalmente, todo comenzó aquí. Andy apareció con el riff de apertura cuando estábamos escribiendo ‘Apex’, pero supe de inmediato que no pertenecía a ese disco”. says the singer, Brittney Slayes. “Cuando finalmente comenzamos a escribir ‘Abyss’ en 2019, esta fue la primera canción que compusimos y fue la primera canción que escuché cuando se terminó de grabar el disco. Simboliza cinco años de duro trabajo para nosotros y creo que hace un gran trabajo de poner al oyente en el lugar correcto emocionalmente para comenzar el álbum. Da pistas de lo que trata el resto del álbum, ¡pero tampoco lo revela todo, ni por asomo!”
Thematically, ‘Abyss’ is the direct sequel to the album ‘Apex’ from 2017. Slayes explains about the concept:
“Our protagonist, The Immortal, wakes up again at the beginning of our story, but this time he is in an unknown place: a ship in deep space. He wanders alone for a time, reflecting on his misdeeds, searching for his new teacher. Finally, he finds him and discovers that he is the grandson of The Matriarch, our antagonist. The Immortal had taken the Grandson's father some sixty years earlier, to be sacrificed by The Matriarch in a ritual to achieve immortality (this happens in Apex events) and now the Grandson seeks revenge on The Matriarch with the help of his own weapon, The Immortal.
Este álbum es una versión clásica del bien contra el mal, la luz contra la oscuridad, The Grandson versus The Matriarch, pero también utiliza el argumento literario ‘una persona contra sí mismo’ en el sentido de que The Immortal está luchando con el bien y el mal dentro de sí mismo, y debe decidir al final si él es simplemente una herramienta para que otros lo usen, o un hombre con libre albedrío y la capacidad de elegir su propio camino; una lucha con la que creo que todos los humanos pueden relacionarse.”
