Global power metal leaders SABATON have released their latest single “A Tiger Among Dragons”, taken from their acclaimed new album LEGENDS (October 17, Better Noise Music). Inspired by the fierce Chinese warrior Lü Bu, the song merges mythic storytelling with the band’s trademark symphonic might and precision.
“The track carries a raw, powerful energy with a melodic edge,” says Joakim Brodén. “We wanted to bring Lü Bu’s legend to life—with drama, emotion, and epic force.”
Bassist Pär Sundström adds: “From the drumming to the atmosphere, we instantly felt an Asian influence. Lü Bu was larger than life—a warrior between myth and man—and we wanted to give him an anthem worthy of his legend.”
The accompanying music video, filmed in Belgrade, Serbia, is pure cinematic spectacle. Dressed in custom ancient Chinese armor, the band leads an army through a fiery CGI battleground, backed by magical allies wielding flaming guitars.
LEGENDS debuted to massive chart success: #1 Metal Album (U.S.), #1 Rock Album (U.S.), #2 iTunes (Global), and #10 Spotify Debut (Global). Across 11 tracks, the album celebrates historical icons like Joan of Arc, Hannibal, Genghis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, and Miyamoto Musashi, blending history, heroism, and thunderous metal energy.
Throughout LEGENDS, the quintet —Joakim Brodén, Pär Sundström, Chris Rörland, Thobbe Englund, and Hannes Van Dahl— revives the stories of some of history's most fascinating and feared figures: Joan of Arc, Hannibal, Genghis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, Julius Caesar, the Knights Templar, and the master swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Each song is an anthem forged in the blood, glory, and strategy of the great leaders and warriors of the past.
Available now in digital and physical formats, including exclusive editions like the “Lü Bu Edition” vinyl, LEGENDS cements SABATON’s legacy as masters of epic, history-driven metal.
