The history of rock and metal has had times that have played a determining role in its development. Depending on the decade in which they were born, they surely grew up with certain bands that marked them and that even to date have not stopped listening.
But if they grew up in the eighties, then they are already chavoring and they will feel identified with some of the points that try to explain why that decade will always remain in the memory of nostalgic metalheads.
1. The Ondto “glam”
The hallmark of the house: Long fluffy manes were in fashion back then. The new rockers showed their talent with their instruments under their prominent bushes; many musicians from the most outstanding bands showed off their look.
2. It was a musical revolution
The decade of the seventies set the bar high for the new generation of the next decade. And it was not a small thing to try to emulate bands like Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, Creedence, Pink Floyd, Ramones, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin.
A new litter was to be born that added an aggressive and novel touch that had never been experienced before. Now there were faster guitars and explicit lyrics that gave music a lot of power.
3. The style
The new wave necessarily had to play against the laws of music and make its own Copernican turn. Thus was born a more extreme style that many fell in love with, fostering roots and the birth of an identity.
4. The rise of legendary gangs
The execution of the new style was carried out by bands like Metallica, Helloween, Slayer, Sepultura, Pantera, among others, who printed their own label. The decade that became the cradle of many of the bands that years later were to be enshrined as legends.
5. Mature youth
The pinnacle of liberalism was experienced precisely in the 1980s. A more conscientious society that was more open in its way of thinking and in which youth was not exempt from it. I feel this is the sector of society that was most thirsty to show itself to the world. To reveal itself. And what better than with one of the maximum forms of expression such as music.
Definitely the eighties left us marked in many aspects, and in that sense music in general also had an upturn that fills us all with memories.
