'Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism' is the name of the new album by veteran british band grincore, Napalm Death and that it will be available from September 18 through Century Media.
"The phrase that came to my mind when I started thinking about the lyrical direction of this album was 'the other'. At the time, it was recognizable that an increasing fear and paranoia was being generated about everyone from migrants to people with other sexualities and this was beginning to manifest itself in very antagonistic reactions that they felt were almost on the brink of violence. ” says the vocalist of the band, Mark 'Barney' Greenway, “Not everyone resorts to such reactions, of course, but even a lack of basic understanding can become toxic over time. I'm not saying this is a completely new phenomenon, but it has certainly been fueled in recent times within political circles, as always.”
“The cover features a white dove as the centerpiece, which of course is a commonly recognized symbol of peace and cooperation. The pigeon has been violently mutilated by a sterilized hand and appears completely broken and bloody. However, through violence a symbol of equality can be seen in the blood on the pigeon's chest, perhaps proving, at least visually, that equality makes its way in the end. A positive result amidst many negative aspects, just like the album title itself as an oxymoron: the celebration of humanity even in the jaws of negativity. ”
The first single from the new album will be released in a few days.
