After two decades, drummer Mikko Sirén has left Apocalyptica. The information was confirmed by the band through their social networks, although no specific reason was given for his departure and they only limited themselves to informing that they will continue with the band and the separation is friendly.
“Some of you have already seen us play without our drummer Mikko Siren in Brazil and Mexico earlier this year… or have heard rumors to this effect. We are very sorry to have to inform you that we have amicably separated from Mikko after 20 years. Recording our next studio album was our last achievement with him. Furthermore, we want to reassure you, because we, Eicca, Perttu and Paavo – will continue as Apocalyptica. “We wish Mikko happiness and success in all that he aspires to in all his future endeavors!” says the band.
Mikko Sirén joined Apocalyptica as a touring member during the 2003 Reflections tour and did not join until a couple of years later in 2005 who was declared a permanent member of the band.
