The spotlights have been on the vocalist's alternate project of BEHEMOTH !, Adam Michal Darski, better known as Nergal, who released his second album ‘New Man, New Songs, Same Shit, Vol. 1’ along with great collaborations in each of the eleven songs, taking his guests as protagonists, of course, without leaving the fact that he completely managed the artistic direction of this project of blackened blues.
The album starts with ‘Run With The Devil‘ (with Jørgen Munkeby of SHINING), remember that the guests are the protagonists, in this song we can enjoy the most joyous overtones of the voice Jørgen accompanied by some riffs that give you the hunch that will start the album well, and of course, with the accompaniment of the voice of Nergal, a short song, very country -like everything on the album- and some cabaret tints.
We continue with ‘Coming Home‘ (with Siver Høyem of EARLY MORNING), the band of Siver He dissolved and continues in the industry as a soloist, in addition to having a similar way of singing to Nick Cave, the piece is again short, romantic and very bluesy.
Y viene una de las canciones más ‘pegajosas’ del álbum, ‘Burning Churches’ (with Mat McNerney of GRAVE PLEASURES), this song is composed by Mat McNerney, certainly one of the favorites on the album.
We continue with one of the most anticipated collaborations, ‘By The River’ (with Ihsahn of EMPEROR), one of the Norwegian gangs of black metal with more influence in the industry, moreover, what a surprise it gave us Ihsahn al cantar una pieza ‘romántica’ con una atmósfera country, una canción bastante disfrutable. Ihsahn participate in this song with voice and guitar, venturing a VERY GOOD solo, the author of the lyrics and music is Nergal.
The moment of Negal I arrive, ‘Męstwo’, It is the only song in which it has the total prominence, - accompanied by some choirs - in addition to being sung in Polish, here we can enjoy the singer's clean voice, the song has a music video, this song is a pure blues with soul without a doubt Nergal He has a very relaxing voice and it is perfect that he can exploit it in his alternate project.
Viene la canción con más colaboraciones, esa es ‘Surrender‘ (with Anders Landelius of DEAD SOUL), in the rest of Anders' piece, they collaborate Patrycja Gola in choirs, Kuba Łuka in strings and a setting that more than blues, is a soul, immediately ‘Deep down south‘ (with Nicke Anderson of ENTOMBED / Johanna Sadonis of LUCIFER) totally transports you to the old west with the collaboration of Sasha Boole en el banjo, un instrumento característico, además de un breve ‘solo’ de armónica, seguido de uno de guitarra, con los efectos correspondientes para mantenerte en la atmósfera country.
Regresamos con algo más ‘oscuro’ con Man of the cross (con Jerome Reuter de ROME), que sorprende con su voz ‘oscura y densa’, haciendo el tema con tintes de country y folk bastante agradable.
It is the turn of Matt Heafy (vocalist of TRIVIUM) with ‘You Will Be Mine‘, otra de las colaboraciones más esperadas del álbum, que con una letra oscuro-‘romántica’ escrita por Sasha Boole, Heafy He shows off exploiting a rather bluesy voice, undoubtedly one of my favorites.
Force returns to the album with How Come? with Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT / STONE SOUR and Brent hinds of MASTODON and Rob Caggian (on guitars), another long-awaited one, that leaves us with a very good taste in our mouths. And although we already know Corey in a more musically relaxed environment like Stone Sour, his more bluesy voice sounds very good and you don't connect him at all with his two bands.
We end with the deep voice of Niklas Kvarforth from Shinning on ‘Confessions’, who also includes some screams dark that reminds us what blackened, in addition to a very blacker battery in that part, without a doubt a very good song to close the album in which the dark overtones return, although a little brief, but enough.
